Vaper Expo UK Oct 19 – Event Review

Here we are again at the Vaper Expo UK which is known as the largest and most important vaping event in Europe held in NEC Birmingham and is now in its sixth year running.

INTRODUCTION

The Vaper Expo October 2018 will be the seventh edition of the biannual show based at the NEC Birmingham, the UK’s Largest award winning venue.

The first show was held in 2015 and within a few years the show has quadrupled in terms of size, number of exhibitors and visitor attendance. The show welcomes all exhibitors, trade visitors and consumers. It has the right mix of professionalism, entertainment, retail and B2B. The show is must-attend expo for UK and International manufacturers, suppliers and distributors. The leading key players in the industry unite and use this platform for launching new products and services for the vaping industry.

The SneakyVape team went on Saturday 27th of October which was a Business to Consumer day.

The event consists of various DJs who works the decks from the main stage with a mixture of music. There’s a vaping robot, a purpose built area, chillout area with drinks/food outlets, two vape bus lounges (double decker buses with vape sampling machine) and a fun casino. Also among all this, don’t forget the freebies – this event is known for the freebies and giveaways!

LOCATION AND VENUE

The Vaper Expo is located at the NEC Birmingham which is the home of the Vaper Expo. The event just keeps getting bigger and bigger, year on year. We arrived around 12.30pm with no queues, greeted with bags of goodies and a handy guide for the event. A change to our previous encounter.

NEC Birmingham is an amazing location for events, it’s quite hard to get to on public transport but if you drive, they have a wonderful car park and when there’s no traffic, a breeze to get to.

To our surprise, it didn’t feel like there were a lot of people in there. It was quite calm but I can now see why, it’s so bloody big – it’s calmed the queues right down.

ATTENDEE SURVEY

The SneakyVape team attend the event every year so far they take all the feedback on board.

Various different stalls here this time around but I did notice the lack of hardware related brands – especially the likes of UWELL and new brands such as Lost Vape.

We’ve placed a map below as you can see it’s huge and that runway just gets bigger and bigger! Our legs were killing by the end of the day.

PROMOTIONS, MEDIA AND EXHIBITORS

I found the marketing for this event great and kudos to the Instagram promoters for the great job that they did. The Instagram posts kept vapers around the globe updated with the brands that were attending, where they were, what days they would attend so more than enough information that would keep you happy!

The demographic of people were vapers beginners to advanced, the front staff were welcoming and so were all the stands we attended.

The competitions were great and the main stage was full of people, they were throwing out flavours, giving out mods – everything you’d want from attending a good exhibition! We even managed to bump into a few doppelgangers!

Surprisingly there were more flavour brands than hardware. Some of the big guns made an appearance i.e. Aspire, Smok and Innokin. to the smaller less known ones who were promoting their own vape pen. Almost all the stalls allowed you to buy from their stock (if possible), provide a brochure or other means if you were interested.

The signage for the brands were amazing and really popped. There were tons of ambassadors out there trying to get you to visit their stand, it started to feel a bit like a market!

Now the exhibitors.. what an excellent response this time around! They were aware of who we were so we got a warm welcome. The CEO of Elements provided some excellent advice to us and hopefully we can take the feedback onboard!

*Time for the plug!* Shout out to the following exhibitors and instagrammers for supporting us, being so awesome and so down do earth –

Eileen from Tesla Cigs, George from Innokin, HQD, Aspire, Justfog, PodSalt

Please do support them as we wouldn’t be here without these guys!

SUMMARY AND FUTURE RECCOMENDATIONS

To conclude, this was one amazing vaping event. If you’ve never been, I can’t reccommend it anymore – even if you can just go for a day, you will see all the weird and wonderful things that make vaping.

The event continues to grow and even though some of the big players are missing, it doen’s stop the fact it’s just great to see how far vaping has come and the crowd it attracts day by day.

The exhibitors, you keep doing your thing. You make these events, the convos, banter and jokes you give us gets us through the day. Great job to all the guys who had to stand for countless hours! One thing I’d like to reccommend is that you take card payments as cash withdrawals can become expensive (£2.50 each time!)

An excellent event, we can’t wait for the next show in May and advise you to buy a ticket as soon as you can from the VaperExpoUK website

See you at the next one, SneakyVapers!
